Abstract

In this work there has been studied relevant aspects such as the attacks and vulnerabilities that both companies and home users can face, the extent to which third persons can make use of these vulnerabilities and what kind of attacks they can use. Furthermore, this work has investigated the risks faced by companies or organisations and how these vulnerabilities can influence the structure of a company. In addition, a security plan for companies has been constructed, which outlines how they should act in order to avoid these types of attacks. At the domestic environment, the risks to which we are exposed at home have also been analysed and how a lack of adequate knowledge and concern for basic cybersecurity issues could lead to dangerous practices. To demonstrate this, surveys have been carried out among the population to assess the level of knowledge possessed. Using these surveys, the results have been analysed and advice has been provided on how users can better protect themselves and their personal and financial information, but also their accounts on different websites online. This work seeks to provide all interested parties with an overview of cybersecurity, from threats and vulnerabilities to possible solutions and best practices for citizens and corporations alike. Furthermore, it seeks to raise awareness of how vital it is to have a solid online defence, which is becoming so relevant in an increasingly digitised society.
