Abstract

Social networks are an exhibition of people's thoughts. Anonymity allows individuals to express or say what they truly think without fear or shame. This is why many of the opinions found on social networks can be really useful when looking to gather opinions on certain topics. Furthermore, the vast amount of data generated every day on social networks represents a rich source of information for researchers, businesses, and other entities interested in understanding public trends and sentiments. However, there are currently a large number of social networks, and it is challenging to gather all these opinions, especially when the aim is to search for a specific topic. So, would it be possible to filter and obtain these opinions from different social networks? In response to the above question, this Bachelor's Thesis consists of the design and development of a web service that allows collecting, filtering, and storing documents generated from these people's opinions. All documents have the same format even if the social networks from which they were extracted are different, in order to facilitate the manipulation of these data. The system must be scalable and should allow its integration with other existing systems. Specifically, it must be able to integrate into the system developed by the GESSI - NLP4SE project, a project based on natural language processing (NLP). The function in the GESSI - NLP4SE project is to be able to obtain data in a simple and precise way so that it can later be used in this system.
