Abstract

The objective of this final degree thesis is to carry out an optimization study in the construction and demolition waste (CDW) recycling plant of the company Transports i Excavacions Ribera S.A. The current processes of the plant have been analyzed, including the type of waste treated, the recycled aggregates produced and the machinery used. The efficiency of two crushing processes has also been compared: one with a jaw crusher and the other with an impact crusher. Several improvements are proposed to increase the efficiency and sustainability of the plant, such as the implementation of new crushing technologies to increase the production of aggregates, the optimization of the processes through modeling, and the exploration of new outlets for recycled aggregates with lower demand. In addition, a redistribution of space and a new location of the recycling plant are proposed to improve the work flow. The study includes an economic assessment to ensure the feasibility of the proposed improvements, as well as an analysis of the benefits associated with reducing landfill waste and increasing recycled materials. These improvements will contribute to more efficient waste management and boost the circular economy in the construction sector.
