Abstract

In this project, the creation of a new aesthetic and functional concept for a bus is developed. This type of vehicle is very common in cities as it allows the land transport of a large number of people. In addition, according to the function or type of route assigned, there are subcategories which are differentiated through the modification of characteristics that specialize it for its task. This concept seeks to differentiate itself from current designs, providing an original and innovative solution for transport operating companies and improving the user service experience. It is for this reason that the concept is a modular bus, which with the same platform, the base, allows different modules to be mounted on it that have differential specifications to fulfil their functions. Specifically, four different models have been considered: the urban, the interurban, the touristic and the capsule, the latter being a different approach designed for tourism. 'bVs', which is the name given to the new design, plays with the traditional geometries of the buses we know in order to implement its modular system. In fact, the term 'bVs' refers to the type of vehicle it is, a bus, and combines it with the letter 'V' which indicates the shape of the characteristic base which enables the adaptability of the modules to the common platform. Analysing the market and the evolution of design and subsequently using modelling tools, 'bVs' concept has been created with the aim to be a pioneer in the sector and contribute to a new way of seeing transport.
