La ciuadd informal: reflejos de ciudad

Abstract

The informal city arises out of necessity. Settlements on the outskirts of cities where urgency meets the lack of resources and everything ends up materialized in poor constructions. Where architects see amusing solutions, others see the eternal problem of housing; where some see eudaimonia, others see a scarcity of resources; where some see cleverness, others see necessity; and where some see talent, others see misery. What is the informal city to the City? How is it usually treated and who usually treats it in what way? How has this idea evolved as these settlements have become enclosed within the city they once bordered? How is the temporality and volatility of housing seen? And how, self-construction? Does it have anything to do with the architects’ self-construction model? Is the informal city a remedy or rather a residue of something? And finally, “the man who causes the problem, the family that now has to immediately resolve the urgency of their own shelter, what are they like? What do they think? How do they live?”.

On els arquitectes veuen solucions divertides, altres veuen l'etern problema de l'habitatge; on uns veuen eudemonia, altres, escassetat de recursos; on uns veuen enginy, altres, necessitat i on uns veuen talent, altres, misèria.
