Agudeza visual dinámica: revisión narrativa y propuesta de entrenamiento

Abstract

Dynamic visual acuity, or DVA, is the ability to visually resolve spatial details of an object when the object, the observer, or both are in motion. The clinical evaluation of visual acuity in dynamic vision situations has been overlooked. Studies and research in this field are scarce; however, the existing literature shows that several factors significantly influence dynamic visual acuity, such as stimulus speed, contrast, exposure time, and trajectory, among others. Athletes in interoceptive sports have been found to have superior DVA compared to sedentary individuals, suggesting the benefits of sports experience. Additionally, results indicate that DVA can be improved through specific training programmes, although evidence is limited. It is also noted that DVA is crucial for driving (considered a predictor of accident rates), and for the diagnosis and clinical monitoring of certain pathologies. Despite the relevance of DVA in multiple contexts, there is a need to develop and standardise more precise measurement methods to assess this ability in a way that is both reliable and comparable in clinical and research settings. Finally, we present a basketball training proposal.
