Abstract

Este trabajo se centra en el estudio de la posible contaminación causada por las escombreras abandonadas de las antiguas explotaciones mineras de la zona del Priorato, Cataluña. La zona presenta una geología con altos valores de trazas de metales como puede ser el plomo (elemento carecterístico de la zona por la galena) o el zinc. Los valores de los metales totales en las zonas de las escombreras son claramente elevados respecto a los valores encontrados con otras zonas alejades de las escombreras, aunque existan vías de transmisión i sedimentación de material o elementos contaminantes La biodisponibilidad de la zona muestra indicadores de que altos niveles de metales pesados pueden ser absorbidos por las plantas, pero no hay una variación significativa entres los puntos teóricos no afectados por la contaminación y los que tienen posibilidad de afectación. La mobilidad de los metales en relación con los metales totales de las distintas zonas de muestreo no indica que haya una relación directa entre las escombreras y los valores de metales pesados encontrados en las distintas muestras, a excepción de en las proximidades de las escombreras.

Aquest treball es centra en l'estudi de la possible contaminació causada pels runams abandonats de les antigues explotacions mineres de la zona del Priorat, Catalunya. La zona presenta una geologia amb alts valors de traces de metalls com pot ser el plom (element característic de la zona per la galena) o el zinc. Els valors dels metalls totals en les zones dels runams són clarament elevats respecte els valors trobats en altres zones allunyades del runam, encara que existeixin vies de transmissió i sedimentació de material o elements contaminants. La biodisponibilitat de la zona mostra indicadors de que alts nivells de metalls pesants poden ser absorbits per les plantes, però no hi ha una variació significativa entre els punts teòrics no afectats per contaminació i els amb possibilitat d’afecció. La mobilitat dels metalls en relació amb els metalls totals de les diverses zones de mostreig no indiquen que hi hagi una relació directe entre els runams i els valors de metalls pesats trobats en les diferents mostres, a excepció de en les proximitats del runam.

This work focuses on the study of the possible pollution caused by the abandoned spoil tips from the old mining operations in the Priorat area, Catalonia. The area presents a geology with high levels of trace metals such as lead (charecteristic element of the area due to galena) or zinc. The values of the total metals in the spoil tips are clearly high compared to the values found in other areas away from the spoil tips, even if there are transmission and sedimentation routes of material or polluting elements. The bioavailability of the area shows indicators that high levels of heavy metals can be absorbed by plants, but there is no significant variation between the theoretical points not affected by pollution and those with the possibility of being affected. The mobility of the metals in relation to the total metals of the various sampling areas do not indicate that there is a direct relationship between the spoil tips and the values of heavy metals found in the different samples, with the exception of in the vicinity of spoil tips.
