Abstract

El cambio climático es el mayor reto medioambiental en la actualidad. El Acuerdo de París, de 2015, fue decisivo para pasar a la acción, ya que 195 países aprobaron limitar el incremento de la temperatura global a 2 °C a finales de siglo respecto a la era preindustrial. El entorno portuario y sus actividades de transporte representan cerca del 10% de la huella de carbono global que resulta imperativo reducir para alcanzar el objetivo. Este trabajo trata de reducir las emisiones globales de los puertos sin tener un impacto mayor en la economía del mismo. En este caso, este proyecto se centra en los Puertos de la Generalitat. Se realiza un estudio exhaustivo del estado actual y las previsiones futuras del sector para proponer una línea estratégica que ayude en el camino a la descarbonización. Por último, se aplican estas líneas en un caso práctico, escogido siguiendo una serie de parámetros, para analizar la viabilidad técnica y económica de los mismas. Entre otras, se realiza la implantación de una instalación de generación de energía renovable para observar su comportamiento frente a una demanda de grandes dimensiones.

El canvi climàtic és el repte mediambiental més gran en l'actualitat. L'Acord de París, del 2015, va ser decisiu per passar a l'acció, ja que, 195 països van aprovar limitar l'increment de la temperatura global a 2 °C a finals de segle respecte a l'era preindustrial. L'entorn portuari i les seves activitats de transport representen a prop del 10% de la petjada de carboni global, el qual és imperatiu reduir per assolir l'objectiu. Aquest treball tracta de reduir les emissions globals de les activitats portuàries, sense tenir un impacte massa gran en la seva economia. En aquest cas, se centra en els Ports de la Generalitat. Es fa un estudi exhaustiu de l'estat actual i les previsions futures del sector per proposar mesures de descarbonització progressiva. Finalment, s'apliquen aquestes línies en un cas pràctic, escollit seguint una sèrie de paràmetres, per analitzar-ne la viabilitat tècnica i econòmica. Entre d'altres, es realitza la implantació d'una instal·lació de generació d'energia renovable per observar-ne el comportament davant d'una demanda de grans dimensions.

Climate change is the biggest environmental challenge today. The 2015 Paris Agreement was decisive for action, with 195 countries agreeing to limit the global temperature increase to 2°C by the end of the century compared to the pre-industrial era. The port environment and its transport activities are responsible of approximately 10% of the global carbon footprint that must be reduced in order to reach the target. This work seeks to reduce global emissions from ports without having a major impact on the port economy. In this case, this project focuses on the “Ports de la Generalitat”. An exhaustive study of the current state and future forecasts of the sector is carried out in order to propose a strategic line that will help on the road to decarbonization. Finally, these lines are applied in a practical case, chosen following a series of parameters, to analyse the technical and economic feasibility of them. Among others, the implementation of a renewable energy generation facility is carried out in order to observe its performance in the face of a large demand.
