Bifurcacions en un problema de convecció tèrmica

Abstract

La convecció de Rayleigh-Bénard en l'aproximació de Boussinesq ve regida per les equacions de Navier-Stokes, la condició d'incompressibilitat i una tercera equació per a l'energia, que es pot escriure en termes de temperatura. En aquesta dissertació estudiem el cas d'un fluid contingut en un domini rectangular vertical sotmès a escalfament per sota i refredament per dalt. L'objectiu és desenvolupar el mètode pseudoespectral de col·locació amb el qual s'integra el sistema d'equacions en derivades parcials corresponent, explorar-lo en un cert rang d'un dels paràmetres del problema (el nombre de Rayleigh) i trobar-ne els punts de bifurcació.
