Abstract

This industrial design project looks for the convergence point between the fulfillment of the user's functional needs, the appropriate visual appearance and the respect for the environment during the current climate emergency declaration. The material to work with is a product line of four units, in the Habitat sector. They are used daily by a large part of the population: pencil holder, plant pot, toothbrush holder and oil set. The methodology used has been the Design Thinking, which is based on different stages. The first one was a briefing about what was expected to achieve; then a wide research to know the product, user, market and technology; also, some creative dynamics to end up with a few ideas; and finally, the detailed description (DFM) of the final technical solution. To adjust the solution to reality, the prototyping phase has occupied from the ideation stages to the final technical solution definition ones. The result is a homogeneous and functional product line with clear intentions in the environmental aspect. The objectives have been achieved with four viable objects for manufacture and commercialization. Moreover, a brief study about how is responsibly designed a product in 2022 is included.
