Disseny wayfinding a l'EPSEVG

Abstract

Wayfinding design helps people to get to their destination without having even noticed. This concept is the key of the project. Nowadays, it is observed that building A presents a difficult-to-manage distribution for newcomers who do not feel comfortable when moving around the building. The main objective of this assignment is to reach a wayfinding design which helps the user to get easily orientated through the university so ameliorate their experience. In order to achieve this goal, the project has applied a user-centered methodology to do a constant follow-up next to the users. Once the university’s sign points and distribution has been analysed, the user’s existent problems have been extracted. This has given rise to present a solution to these problems. The result of this project is a new proposal to implement in Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG) facilities that consist on visual maps located in strategic points to direct the user to its destination. The solution has been validated with client users, users who had never been in the university before. They have understood the proposal and have been able to use it, it has been a success. Nevertheless, as an improving proposal it is positively valorated to implement the design with a QR code for the university so that the user can consult the map when they want to.
