This thesis presents the results obtained in the study realized in the (CIEM) wave flume at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, (UPC) with the purpose of evaluating the impact of seagrass meadows on wave currents to determine their feasibility as nature base solutions (NBS) against such hazards. The analysed data indicates a reduction of both wave height and wave velocities due to the presence of the meadow, however the revision of the literature highlights the complexity of introducing it as a nature based solution, giving more importance to a correct management of the life cycle of the seagrass rather than on habitat creation projects.
