Abstract

This project comes from a personal interest in trying to improve life in cities and also reducing time we spend on moving around them in a daily basis. This proposal seems to lead us to an utopian idea, because nowadays the predominance of the private vehicle seems to be a difficult thing to change. With the purpose of progressing in these facts, in this research I will define how to reach a model of sustainable and self-contained cities by analyzing how the urbanism adapts to the environmental and social challenges of the modern cities. It is the opportunity to see how cities are transforming, to reclaim the public area and use this area to do activities for the neighborhood, to promote the local commerce and to take care of the planet by naturalizing the cities and reducing the consumption of fossil fuels. It is not only minimizing the mobility in order to reduce the environmental and noise pollution but humanizing the neighborhoods and promoting the social interaction.
