Abstract

Este trabajo ha consistido en el análisis de un método hasta ahora poco conocido de tracking: el llamado mouse tracking. Esta técnica explota la capacidad de alguna funciones JavaScript para filtrar información sobre el ratón (tanto del hardware en sí mismo como de su uso). Los usos de este tracking van desde la autentificación de usuarios hasta el fingerprinting. Aún y así, no nos hemos centrado en la aplicación que puedan tener los datos recogidos por trackers, si no en la recogida de datos misma. Partiendo de la base de que cualquier práctica que incluya recoger y enviar a servidores externos datos del usuario es una potencial vulnerabilidad de la privacidad del usuario. Mediante heurísticos, hemos determinado que entre un 1% y un 25% (aproximadamente) de los 200k dominios más populares de Internet aplican alguna técnica de mouse tracking. Así mismo, hemos identificado la presencia en Internet de diversas empresas que comercializan código de tracking y analizan los datos obtenidos. El tracking de estas empresas está presente en un 4,5% de los 200k dominios explorados.
