Abstract

El presente trabajo de fin de grado, tiene como objetivo el estudio de las fuerzas aerodinámicas que se generan sobre una esfera lisa y una media esfera provocadas por un flujo externo de aire. Para ello, se realiza en primera instancia un análisis experimental en el laboratorio del departamento de Mecánica de Fluidos, donde haciendo uso de un túnel de viento, se obtienen fuerzas aerodinámicas y perfiles de velocidad a diferentes velocidades de flujo. En segundo lugar, se han realizado simulaciones numéricas con CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) de los experimentos realizados en el laboratorio con el fin de comparar los resultados obtenidos experimentalmente con los de las simulaciones. En este apartado del trabajo se detalla el procedimiento de varias simulaciones para un mismo experimento, hasta seleccionar la configuración y modelo de turbulencia idóneos a nuestro caso en particular y poder conseguir unos resultados óptimos para su comparación a posteriori. Finalmente se analizarán los resultados obtenidos de las simulaciones, obteniendo mapas de velocidad y presión, perfiles de velocidad, coeficientes de arrastre y sustentación, entre otros.

Aquest treball de final de grau té com a objectiu estudiar les forces aerodinàmiques generades en una esfera llisa i mitja causada per un flux d'aire extern. Per a això, es realitza un anàlisi experimental al laboratori del departament de Mecànica de Fluids, on utilitzant un túnel de vent, s’obtenen forces aerodinàmiques i perfils de velocitat a diferents velocitats de flux. En segon lloc, s'han realitzat simulacions numèriques amb CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) d'experiments realitzats al laboratori per comparar els resultats obtinguts experimentalment amb els de les simulacions. Aquesta secció del treball detalla el procediment de diverses simulacions per a un mateix experiment, fins a seleccionar el model de configuració i turbulència adequat per al nostre cas particular i poder aconseguir resultats òptims per a la comparació posterior. Finalment, s'analitzaran els resultats obtinguts a partir de les simulacions, obtenint mapes de velocitat i pressió, perfils de velocitat, coeficients de resistència i sustentació, entre d'altres.

This end-of-degree work aims to study the aerodynamic forces generated on a smooth sphere and a half sphere caused by an external airflow. To do this, an experimental analysis is performed in the laboratory of the Fluid Mechanics department, where using a wind tunnel, we can obtain aerodynamic forces and speed profiles at different flow speeds. Secondly, numerical simulations have been performed with CFDs (Computational Fluid Dynamics) of experiments carried out in the laboratory in order to compare the results obtained experimentally with those of the simulations. This section work details the procedure of several simulations for the same experiment, until selecting the configuration and turbulence model suitable for our particular case and being able to achieve optimal results for a later comparison. Finally, the results obtained from the simulations will be analyzed, obtaining speed and pressure maps, speed profiles, drag and lift coefficients, and others.
