En búsqueda de los lugares estructurales: un análisis de comportamiento espacio temporal de la población para la identificación de centralidades urbanas.

Abstract

La información que se deriva del análisis del comportamiento espacial de la población a lo largo de la ciudad y a lo largo del tiempo resulta tremendamente útil como herramienta de análisis de las estructuras de nuestras ciudades. En esta investigación utilizamos los datos provenientes de la Encuesta Metropolitana de Movilidad Cotidiana para construir un indicador sintético multidimensional con el objeto de identificar los lugares que dan estructura al ámbito metropolitano de Barcelona. De esta forma, se pretende superar el concepto tradicional del policentrismo entendido como un conjunto de centros de empleo con influencia funcional en su entorno, para llegar al de lugares estructuralesen donde la diversidad/intensidad sincrónica de actividades, la diversidad de grupos sociales y la complementariedad entre las actividades económicas son nucleares. Lugares que en definitiva promueven la sostenibilidad ambiental, social y económica. Los resultados sugieren que efectivamente el comportamiento espaciotemporal de la población permite diferenciar y conocer el contenido de las diferentes áreas de la ciudad, y por ende, establecer la jerarquía urbana; si bien con importantes limitaciones derivadas de la propia fuente de información.
