As one of the initial elements to human beings and urban development, water affects cities’ location and development. Furthermore, it’s also related the living, working and relaxation of citizen. In recent years, the city of industry shift the focus of the tertiary industry by industry, all provide a good opportunity for the development of the urban waterfront. Study on urban waterfront regeneration can greatly enhance the urban ecological function and cultural functions, resulting in enormous economic benefits, and promote urban development. After years of reform, the urban waterfront development has achieved some progress, but many problems still exist. The methods waterfront development is single and blind, waterfront ecosystem is unbalanced, management of development is jumbled, lack of attention to public interest and identifiable. From the previous research, seven approaches were found to be crucial to the waterfront revitalization and are presented as follows: consistent design, promote mixed functions, improve the publicity of space, enhancing the accessibility of space, create a hydrophilic space, create harmonious ecological space, extend the history and culture.
