Among the regulations of the F´ed´eration Internationale des Soci´et´es d’Aviron (FISA) for international events, one states that a rowing course should have a minimum depth of 3.5 metres. In this work, we analyse the effect of the water depth on rowing basin recirculation and boat performance in order to assess at which extent this rule limitation is supported by physical evidence.
