La medición del hinchamiento de suelos expansivos

Abstract

El examen de ensayos de hinchamiento en laboratorio sugiere la existencia de dos etapas en las curvas expansión-tiempo. El primer mecanismo, de tipo «primario», se asocia con fenómenos de flujo no estaciona­rio en la red de poros interconectados del suelo. Se piensa que el segundo mecanismo responsable del comporta­ miento a largo plazo, es el resultado de la hidratación de minerales arcillosos activos. Se ha desarrollado un modelo que incorpora estos dos mecanismos básicos. Las nociones actuales de microestructura de suelos han proporcionado un marco de referencia conveniente para la formulación teórica. El modelo se ha utilizado para reproducir ensayos edométricos de hinchamiento de margas expansivas. Los parámetros derivados en el proceso de ajuste ensayo­ modelo se han utilizado para reproducir los hinchamientos medidos, a lo largo de diez años, en una central nuclear cimentada sobre margas expansivas
