Aprovechamiento energético de la biomasa

Abstract

A diferencia de otras fuentes potenciales de energía como el sol, el viento o el agua, la biomasa (cualquier tipo de materia orgánica cuyo origen inmediato sea un proceso biológico, vegetal o animal) presenta una gran diversidad de vías o procesos a partir de los cuales se puede obtener energía. Si a esta diversidad le añadimos la gran variedad de la materia orgánica en cuanto a orígenes, composición y modos de recolección y tratamiento, nos encontramos con un amplio y variado escenario de posibilidades. Tras unas sucintas descripciones científicas y técnicas, el autor presenta una variada gama de formas de utilización de la biomasa como recurso energético en proyectos de desarrollo humano realizados en países en vías de desarrollo.
