Estudio y análisis de variables influyentes en la compactación de mezcla asfáltica con el equipo compactador giratorio

Abstract

La fabricación de probetas cilíndricas de mezcla asfáltica se efectúa utilizando la Prensa Compactadora Giratoria, en adelante PCG. La compactación se consigue por la acción simultánea de una fuerza de compresión vertical aplicada en forma axial y el deslizamiento giratorio mediante la inclinación del eje de la probeta. La investigación pretende evaluar la influencia de la presión aplicada y el ángulo de giro al compactar mezclas tipo AC16S y BBTM11B, según normativa europea; el árido procedente de cantera es de origen calcáreo y el betún asfáltico es del tipo B50/70. La compactación se realiza relacionando 9 variables, obteniendo 27 combinaciones. Las variables corresponden a tres niveles de presión (0,45 MPa, 0,60 MPa y 0,75 MPa); tres ángulos de giro (0,82°, 1° y 1,25°); en probetas de 1200 g, 1800 g y 2500 g. Como resultados preliminares, se verifica que el esfuerzo de corte aumenta a medida que aumenta el número de giros, hasta llegar a un punto en donde tiende a estabilizarse. El punto de inflexión se observa alrededor del giro 100. Por otro lado, se concluye que es posible llegar a una misma curva de densidad, combinando valores de presión y ángulo de giro, es decir, se puede combinar mayor ángulo de giro con menor presión, o bien, menor ángulo de giro y mayor presión.
