Revestimientos con tierra y fibras vegetales: metodología de estudio

Abstract

De todos es conocido que las construcciones realizadas con tierra deben protegerse de las inclemencias meteorológicas y ascensiones capilares. Por tanto, es conveniente utilizar barreras de ascensión capilar en las partes bajas de las construcciones, y cubiertas con aleros que evacuen el agua de lluvia fácilmente. Pero también es importante revestir la construcción para impedir la entrada de agua en forma líquida, sin olvidarse de permitir su transpirabilidad. Los revestimientos más comunes utilizados son de cal, yeso, e incluso de tierra con fibras, dependiendo de la tradición de cada zona. Pero este conocimiento es empírico, y no hay una normativa específica que paute las propiedades que debe de cumplir un revestimiento aplicado sobre una construcción de tierra determinada. Por ello, en este trabajo se presenta unos diseños experimentales de revestimientos de tierra con fibras vegetales de diferente composición, tamaño de partícula, y proporción respecto a la tierra. También se indica la metodología analítica utilizada para determinar el comportamiento del revestimiento frente a la humedad ambiental, presencia de agua líquida, conductividad térmica, abrasión, y adherencia al soporte. Los resultados muestran el comportamiento de cada diseño experimental. También indican la validez de la metodología ya que se basa en ensayos reproducibles y se obtienen datos comparables.
