L'objectiu principal de l'estudi és analitzar com ha evolucionat la indústria dels UAVs des del seu origen fins l'actualitat tant en I+D com en el seu ús en el sector militar i civil. També es vol analitzar quin coneixement i percepció sobre els UAVs hi ha en la societat.
