This master thesis will explain the powertrain of the new Cat12e, which it’s been the first four wheel drive car in the history of ETSEIB Motorsport. We started five years ago with the cat07e the first electric car and since then, this year’s car has presented the biggest engineering revolution. The Cat11e was a very fast and pretty reliable car and we thought we had almost reached its top level of performance so we decided to switch from a big rear motor on the back (rear wheel drive) to a whole new car with four on board wheel motors. An overview to the whole powertrain will be showed and explained, with a big emphasys on the motors. The motors part will be shown from the very early benchmarking part to the testing on the car. The design, sheets, structural and thermal calculations, the software simulations, the manufacturing, the assembly, the testbench testing, the motor paramatization and modeling and the testing on the car will be widely exposed on the document. The length of the project will be about two and a half years and the basis of a new motor design based on 3D metal printing manufacturing will be also exposed. Project management tools will be very recurring to ensure the timings, the safety and the quality of the whole project. The aim of the project will be to have a reliable Cat12e and Cat13e to create a good basis for the next car generations.
