Structural equation modeling is a technique to asses models with complex relationships between variables (path analysis), and models with la-tent variables. An especially interesting case is confirmatory factor analysis, a technique that allows assessing the construct validity of measurement scales. In this paper the lavaan package of R is presented, which easily allows testing struc-tural equation models. Information about the model syntax is reported, and of the possibilites of the package.
