Mecanismos eléctricos y solución domótica para discapacitados visuales

Abstract

Visual disability is a worldwide problem. According to WHO, there are approximately 285 million people in the world with visual disabilities, 39 million blind people including [3]. Mainly they have been in developing countries, but, specifically in our country, according to the affiliation of the Once Foundation in the year 2017, there are almost 72,300 visually impaired people [4]. Being a figure that continuously increases for different causes, for example, aging of the population and growth of chronic diseases like diabetes. These data show that there is a high percentage of our population with great visual problems to perform simple task. The main idea of this project is to be able to help the everyday life of persons with visual disability. Starting by introducing the Braille system in conventional electric mechanisms, in this case by the firm JUNG, and using the KNX home automation system to adapt the home to said disability. In the case of mechanisms, the best option is to manufacture them using a mold made with a 3D printer. This option is only temporary; it is a very affordable and safe way to open this market. Finally, once the study is finished and the functionality of a home is developed and checked well, we plan the adaptation to the public spaces of our region as it has been done for other disabilities.
