Los elementos diagonales se emplean para aumentar la rigidez en edificios de altura o en forjados horizontales de grandes luces, formando celosías. Cuando estos elementos forman parte del sistema disipador en un evento sísmico, se producen lazos de histéresis asimétricos, debido a la diferencia del comportamiento en tracción y compresión, donde eventualmente se alcanza el pandeo después de plastificar. En esta tesina se estudia el comportamiento sísmico de estructuras con estas diagonales y se aportarán recomendaciones para el proyecto basado en control de daño.
