Abstract

El acero inoxidable se emplea en un amplio abanico de aplicaciones estructurales en ambientes agresivos en los que se requiere garantizar un comportamiento adecuado durante largos períodos de tiempo con niveles mínimos de mantenimiento. Además, el acero inoxidable presenta un aspecto atractivo, es resistente a la vez que ligero, muy dúctil y versátil en términos de manufactura. Este Manual de Diseño proporciona expresiones de dimensionamiento para aceros inoxidables austeníticos, dúplex y ferríticos. Las reglas están en sintonía con las modificaciones propuestas en 2015 sobre el Eurocódigo para el acero inoxidable estructural, EN 1993-1-4. Este Manual de Diseño cubre el cálculo de secciones transversales, elementos, uniones y el cálculo a temperaturas elevadas, así como nuevos métodos de cálculo que consideran los efectos del endurecimiento por deformación, característicos del acero inoxidable. Se proporcionan también guías para la selección de grados, durabilidad y fabricación. Finalmente, el Manual cuenta con quince ejemplos de cálculo que ilustran la aplicación de las reglas de dimensionamiento.
