Características minerales de las aguas del Montseny. Aguas de baja mineralización ligeramente bicarbonatadas y cálcicas

Abstract

Las aguas del parque natural del Montseny, reserva de la biosfera situada en la sierra prelitoral de Cataluña, se dirigen al Mediterráneo a partir de tres cuencas que surcan el macizo: el río Congost, la Tordera y la Riera Major. Las tres reciben las aguas de un grupo de rieras y torrentes originados en unas fuentes que manan a lo largo de todo el año. Por las características geológicas del macizo las aguas de las fuentes del Montseny norte son de débil mineralización. Se presenta un estudio de campo que recoge muestras de las 100 principales fuentes del norte del Montseny a través de análisis mineralógicos (PH, conductividad, bicarbonatos, cloruros, sulfatos, nitratos, dureza del agua, calcio, magnesio, sodio, potasio). Los métodos analíticos usados han sido potenciometría para determinar PH; conductimetría para la conductividad; volumetría acido-base para bicarbonato; volumetría Möhr para cloruro; turbidimetría para sulfato, espectrofotometría UV para nitrato; complejometría para dureza, calcio y magnesio; y fotometría de llama para determinación de sodio y potasio. El análisis comparativo junto con la georreferencia de las fuentes y su respectiva altura (variable entre 550 m. y 1600 m.) muestra que la mineralización de las aguas de las fuentes disminuye a medida que aumenta la altura como consecuencia de la menor temperatura media que afecta las reacciones de mineralización del granito. Se destaca la baja mineralización en general, y que las aguas son ligeramente bicarbonatadas y cálcicas, con concentraciones medias típicas alrededor de los 90mg/l de bicarbonato y 20 mg/l de calcio.
