Abstract

The study below deals with the phenomenology that causes the appearance of a beam of light at the time of fracture of composite materials, namely materials with a polymer matrix and a glass fiber reinforcement. It consists of two parts. A practical part where test pieces are made to test the luminescence at the moment of the fracture caused by a tensile load and a theoretical analysis of this phenomenology from the existing published bibliography of different researchers with their corresponding experiences. From all the data obtained and the extracted knowledge, we show some conclusions and hypotheses that try to explain and justify the phenomenon observed in the rupture of composite materials.
