Abstract

Il lavoro presenta una rassegna dei principi e delle prospettive della Palinologia Forense sulla base di quanto emerso negli ultimi simposi internazionali che hanno visto riuniti esperti di nazioni diverse riuniti da Dallas Mildenhall, Patricia Wiltshire e Vaughn Bryant, al momento i più esperti palinologi forensi, tra i pochi coinvolti con continuità per perizie in indagini criminalistiche dalle Forze dell'Ordine, rispettivamente, di Nuova Zelanda, Gran Bretagna e USA. Il polline è un importante strumento di indagine, e le sue caratteristiche lo rendono di versatile impiego in ricerche assai diverse tra loro, per ricostruzioni paleoclimatiche, ricerche in campo archeologico, controlli di qualità dell'aria e degli alimenti. L'esperienza in questi campi offre al palinologo forense il necessario supporto metodologico e teorico per rintracciare e leggere le tracce polliniche legate a casi di interesse forense. Nonostante di questa materia si parli da oltre cinquant'anni, però, i primi due simposi internazionali interamente dedicati alla Palinologia Forense sono stati svolti solo nel 2004, e la letteratura scientifica in tema rimane limitata. Si riportano alcuni casi nei quali la traccia pollinica è risultata rilevante, mostrando quanto del metodo palinologico già in uso in altri campi sia utile per dare un contributo alle scienze forensi, allo scopo di aumentare lo scambio di informazioni e la collaborazione su questo tema tra Forze dell'Ordine e Botanici.
