Abstract

Nei suoi ultimi dieci anni, Antonio Gramsci riflette in carcere sulla sconfitta del movimento comunista e sul fallimento della rivoluzione in Occidente. Rielabora le domande di fondo della sua precedente azione politica, ripensa le risposte date e le esperienze vissute. Formula un vero e proprio lessico per esprimere la sua teoria politica e un intero mondo di concetti destinati a influenzare i più diversi campi del sapere. È un linguaggio che inventa spesso parole nuove, o che reinventa parole vecchie arricchendole di significati diversi: americanismo e fordismo, brescianesimo, egemonia, filosofia della praxis, molecolare, nazionale-popolare, Oriente-Occidente, rivoluzione passiva, Stato integrale, volontà collettiva, moderno Principe e tante altre. Scritto da studiose e studiosi di nazionalità, culture, e competenze diverse, il Dizionario gramsciano 1926-1937 ricostruisce il significato delle parole e dei concetti presenti nei Quaderni del carcere e nelle Lettere dal carcere, coniugando rigore scientifico e chiarezza divulgativa, e si propone di accompagnare con le sue oltre 600 voci la scoperta del pensatore italiano moderno oggi più conosciuto nel mondo.
