Abstract

Tan importante como la capacidad de las estructuras para resistir las solicitaciones producidas por las cargas aplicadas sobre ellas, es el obtener estructuras durables en el tiempo, capaces de resistir durante su periodo de vida útil las acciones del medioambiente, ataques físicos, químicos u otros procesos de deterioro con mínimo mantenimiento. Los Hormigones Reforzados con Fibras (HRF) constituyen una de las innovaciones más relevantes en el campo de los hormigones especiales. Es por ello que este trabajo pretende abordar, con una perspectiva amplia, la compleja problemática actual planteada alrededor de la durabilidad del hormigón reforzado con fibras para desarrollar ideas en torno a ella y tratar de dar una visión analítica e incluso crítica de la misma. La importancia de la durabilidad se hace aún más patente ante la incorporación en la nueva EHE de un anejo en el que se considera la durabilidad como un estado límite. En este sentido las fisuras juegan un destacable papel, pues hacen de nuestras estructuras de hormigón elementos claramente permeables, lo que conlleva un alto riesgo de corrosión. Las fisuras no sólo reducen la calidad del hormigón y lo hacen estéticamente inaceptable sino que también pueden llegar a dejarlas fuera de servicio.
