Preparación y caracterización de nanocompuestos en base PLA

Abstract

Mediante extrusión doble husillo se preparó nanocompuestos en base ácido poliláctico (PLA) con varios porcentajes de arcilla. Se empleó un PLA comercial (PLA 2002D de Nature Works), y una montmorillonita modificada orgánicamente (OMMT = Cloisite 30B de Southern Clays, Inc., of Texas, USA). A partir de un concentrado se obtuvieron mezclas con 5,6% (PLA 5%) y 1,0% (PLA 1%) de OMMT. Se estudió la influencia del procesado sobre el PLA. Para ello se sometió el PLA (PLA 0% NP, no procesado) a un procesado de extrusión en las mismas condiciones de preparación de las mezclas, obteniendo el material que denominamos PLA 0%. Se prepararon placas por moldeo por compresión para caracterizar las distintas muestras. La caracterización de las muestras se realizó por Microscopía Electrónica de Transmisión (TEM), Índice de Fluidez (MFI) , Calorimetría Diferencial de Barrido (DSC), Temperatura de Distorsión baja Carga (HDT), Caracterización mecánica de tracción y Análisis térmico mecánico dinámico (DMTA). Se observa una ligera degradación de las propiedades físicas, mecánicas y térmicas del PLA durante el procesado de extrusión. Se obtienen nanocompuestos donde la OMMT es en parte exfoliada. El MFI reveló una disminución de la viscosidad de las mezclas con el aumento de OMMT. El termograma obtenido por DSC durante el calentamiento del PLA 5% mostró un procesado de cristalización en frío. Las propiedades térmicas mecánicas dinámicas fueron sensibles a la composición de la muestra. Generalmente, el módulo elástico aumentó con el contenido de nanopartículas. No se notó una modificación significativa ni de la temperatura de transición de vítrea Tg ni del HDT entre el PLA y los nanocompuestos.
