Modelización del disco intervertebral

Abstract

Con la intención de obtener más información sobre el comportamiento biomecánico de la columna vertebral y conocer así más a fondo las causas del dolor de espalda, se ha intentado modelizar por elementos finitos un disco intervertebral degenerado. En un inicio se realizo ensayos mecánicos a un disco proveniente de un cadáver varón de 75 años que como principal degeneración presenta osteochondrosis. Estos ensayos mecánicos pretenden reproducir los esfuerzos sufridos en la columna vertebral, compresión, flexiónextensión, torsión y conocer así sus propiedades mecánicas. Para reproducir con elementos finitos el disco ensayado primero es necesario crear su geometría con la ayuda de Materialise Mimics™, software que a partir de las resonancias magnéticas nos permite conocer la geometría del disco y la distribución de los diferentes materiales que lo forman. Una vez creado su geometría y un mallado adecuado, gracias a MSC.Patran™, ha sido importado a MSC.Marc™ donde reproduciremos numéricamente los ensayos realizados en el laboratorio. Finalmente el modelo esta listo y sus condiciones de frontera están definidos para aplicarle los diferentes ensayos. Una vez el disco sea validado mecánicamente hay la intención de sustituir este disco a una columna vertebral sana, ya definida y validada, para así ver los afectos de este al resto de la columna. Asimismo se incorpora un estudio de costes e impacto ambiental.
