Disseny òptim de sistemes Bus Rapid Transit (BRT's)

Abstract

A la dècada dels setanta va aparèixer a Curitiba un nou tipus de transport urbà, l'anomenat Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). L'idea principal d'aquest nou mode de transport fou aconseguir, amb una inversió moderada, el millor sistema possible de transport públic en superfície. Així doncs, es varen implantar diverses iniciatives innovadores. Avui dia, aquest sistema està implantat amb èxit en diverses ciutats de tots els continents i segueix en expansió. Tot i això, encara existeix en el nostre país un desconeixement important. Per aquesta raó, aquest document intenta explicar al lector les característiques principals dels BRT i elabora un model informàtic. Aquest model té dos objectius, per una banda ser una eina d'ajuda de decisió, per escollir quines aplicacions s'han de dur a terme en una línia BRT per a optimitzar els costos del sistema; i per l'altra, permet estudiar el comportament de les diferents aplicacions i del model en diversos escenaris teòrics.
