Discontinuous Galerkin methods for elastoplasticity

Abstract

Programas comerciales de elementos finitos basándose en métodos de Galerkin continuos son capaces de predecir el comportamiento plástico de estructuras. Sin embargo existen ciertos casos en los que estos encuentran ciertas dificultades como en el caso de placas de Poisson-Kirchhoff. Una posible alternativa es el uso de los métodos de Galerkin discontinuo (dG). Éstos muestran interesantes posibilidades como la adaptividad de tipo h y p, así como para el uso de mallas con nodos no coincidentes. En esta tesina se analiza dos métodos dG diferentes, método Interior Penalty y el método de Galerkin discontinuo no simétrico, para problemas de elasto-plasticidad.
