Efecto de la orientación cristalina en la dureza del carburo de wolframio

Abstract

La nanoindentación es una técnica empleada en la caracterización de las propiedades mecánicas (dureza y módulo de Elasticidad) de pequeños volúmenes y la activación de diferentes mecanismos de deformación, tales como líneas de deslizamiento y/o maclaje debido al campo complejo de tensiones inducido durante el proceso de indentación. El objetivo de este Proyecto Final de Carrera es determinar las propiedades mecánicas obtenidas mediante nanoindentación en función de las principales orientaciones cristalinas (plano basal, piramidal y prismático) del carburo de wolframio (WC-Co) a temperatura ambiente. También observar la evolución del campo de deformación plástico en el interior de los carburos cementados y relacionarlo con la orientación cristalina mediante tomografía FIB y tomografía AFM mediante un proceso controlado de pulido. Para ello se utilizarán tanto técnicas avanzadas de caracterización tanto a nivel superficial (microscopia de fuerzas atómicas, AFM, y microscopia electrónica de barrido, FE-SEM) también a nivel sub-superficial (microscopia de haz de iones focalizado, FIB).
