Estimación y predicción de la velocidad del viento mediante funciones ortogonales empíricas y modelos de volatilidad estacional

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es la implementación, estimación y predicción de modelos espacio-temporales para la velocidad del viento en la zona del Estrecho del Gibraltar a partir de un análisis in-sample y out-of-sample. Los datos utilizados provienen del modelo de predicción numérica (HIRLAM) y contienen información de la velocidad del viento, entre otras variables climatológicas. El conjunto de datos abarca desde Enero de 2009 hasta Diciembre de 2010. En primer lugar, se ha llevado a cabo una reducción de la dimensión de los datos a partir del cálculo de las funciones ortogonales empíricas (EOF), que ha permitido separar la componente temporal y espacial existentes en los mismos. En segundo lugar, se han estimado modelos de volatilidad estacional para la componente temporal. .
