Simulación numérica del flujo de materiales granulares usando el concepto de estado crítico

Abstract

En este trabajo se presenta una relación constitutiva plástica para modelar el flujo estacionario de sólidos granulares. Se estudian dos caminos alternativos para formular la nueva relación. La primer alternativa comienza empleando una ecuación constitutiva general para el flujo de materiales granulares compresibles, friccionales y con colisiones entre las partículas, a la cual se le introducen dos simplificaciones (el material posee comportamiento incompresible y las colisiones entre las partículas generan un efecto despreciable en el tensor de tensiones). La segunda derivación se obtiene a partir de la teoría clásica de plasticidad. La función de fluencia de los modelos “cap modificados” es usada como función de discontinuidad para representar el flujo sin cambios en la densidad de los sólidos granulares. Para el potencial plástico, la formulación utiliza la función de von Mises y se obtiene una viscosidad aparente que corresponde a un fluido no newtoniano. El modelo se aplica a la descarga de silos y tolvas empleando el método del elementos finitos como herramienta de discretización. La verificación del modelo constitutivo fue realizada por comparación con resultados experimentales y analíticos publicados en la literatura técnica. Finalmente, se ha evaluado la sensibilidad de la solución para ilustrar cómo cambios en la geometría de un silo pueden modificar las cargas sobre las paredes y el caudal de descarga.
