Faire confiance à la confiance

Abstract

• Exposé pédagogique succinct d’une théorie de la confiance que l’auteur a été le premier à formuler, et qui va à contre-courant des théories dominantes ; • En retraçant la genèse de l’individualisme moderne, il montre la profondeur historique du problème de la confiance, ainsi que la raison philosophique pour laquelle ce thème – pourtant unanimement reconnu comme essentiel – a été largement négligé dans la littérature philosophique ; • Il montre, au fil de nombreux exemples, que la confiance est relation au monde, avant d’être relation au risque (ce qu’affirment majoritairement lesdites théories dominantes, de nature essentiellement économique) ; • Il montre enfin, exemples à l’appui, que l’emprise du numérique sur nos existences a pour effet d’éliminer tendanciellement les relations de confiance, au profit de relations sécurisées. Ce phénomène dessine l’horizon d’une société automatique, d’où sont chassées les relations naturelles de confiance qui nous lient au monde – aux objets, aux autres, aux institutions. • Ce livre s’inscrit donc dans la longue tradition de la théorie critique de la société.
