IT-investeringsbeslut i byggsektorn, nyttovärderingens relevans - En fallstudie på Derome AB

Abstract

Kostnaderna för IT-investeringar ökar hos bolagen, samtidigt som uppemot 66 % av investeringarna delvis eller helt misslyckas. Trots en hög misslyckandegrad uppges av bolagsledningar att de traditionella värderingsmetoderna ofta används även vid investeringar i IT. Vidare uppges att de tillgängliga anpassade metoder uppfattas som för akademiska, kräver för mycket i tid och pengar samt att orealistiska antaganden måste göras. Med hjälp av en helhetsmodell, skapad för IT-investeringsbedömningar, undersöks huruvida en investering som initialt ansetts olönsam, de facto kan anses som lönsam bara en grundligare värdering görs. Undersökningen är en fallstudie där datainsamlingen sker genom intervjuer och dokumentsökning. Studien resulterar i flertalet identifierade kostnader och effekter, både för nuläge och för den tänkta investeringen, som initialt inte uppdagats. Dessutom visar resultaten en positiv avkastning på investerat kapital och nettovinster, samt att återbetalningstiden ligger väl inom investeringens tidshorisont. Som slutsats kan konstateras att en grundligare nyttovärdering, särskilt anpassad för IT-investeringar, underlättar identifieringsprocessen av effekter och kostnader, samt kan vända ett beslut om att inte investera till ett beslut att investera.
