Värderingsarbetet med IAS 39 - Inom Sveriges storbanker

Abstract

Bakgrund & problem: Redovisning av finansiella instrument har länge varit ett debatterat ämne, detta på grund av den finansiella marknadens ökade komplexitet och sårbarhet. IASB’s standard IAS 39 reglerar upptagandet och värderingen av finansiella instrument i bolagens finansiella rapporter. Tillgångar och skulder skall värderas till verkligt värde. När en aktiv marknad för handel existerar värderas dessa till marknadsvärde, i de fall där en aktiv marknad saknas kommer värdering att göras utifrån uppskattningar och värderingstekniker. Värderingstekniker väljs ut och tillämpas av bolagen själva, och är därmed utsatta för en betydande osäkerhet. Vi har för avsikt att utreda hur värderingsarbetet med finansiella instrument (IAS 39) i Sveriges fyra ledande banker sker. Syfte: Syfte med studien är att kartlägga hur värderingsarbete av finansiella instrument sker i Sveriges storbanker. Avgränsning: Studien är avgränsad till hanteringen av finansiella instrument enligt IAS 39, och hur bedömningar inom detta område sker. Sveriges fyra storbanker Swedbank, SEB, Nordea och Handelsbanken kan anses representera Sveriges bankväsende, vi har därmed avgränsat denna studie till dessa. Metod: Med tanke på studiens syfte har vi valt att använda oss av en kvalitativ metod i form av intervjuer hos Sveriges storbanker. Slutsats: Studien besvarar sin frågeställning hur arbetet med finansiella instrument går till i Sveriges fyra ledande banker, och utreder även bankernas syn på risker med värdering till verkligt värde. Förslag på vidare studier: Vi anser att det vore intressant att undersöka vilka effekter dessa ändringar skulle få på ett bolags finansiella rapporter, då det faktiska införandet av dessa regler kommer att dröja ytterligare ett par år.
