Fortificaciones fenicio-púnicas de la isla de Cerdeña

Abstract

Report for the scientific sojourn carried out in the Università degli studi di Sassari from july until december 2007. It have been studied the Phoenician-Punic fortifications on the island of Sardinia. Also, it has been conducted a literature research at various libraries in Sardinia. The results have shown us a completely different image on the fortifications of Phoenician-Punic Sardinia. The vast majority of the remaining studied have proved to belong to the Roman era or architectural structures that do not have a defensive function. These results make it totally changed our view on the Carthaginian military presence on the island, especially on the conquest and control.
