
This is a descriptive-exploratory study that aimed at analysing the program of uterine cervical neoplasm prevention in the city of Igarapava/SP. In the year of 2006, the municipal public service realized a preventive program with 14.9% of the feminine population from 25 to 59 years old, half of the minimum expected for the cities, whereas the predominant age of those collected were of 20 to 34 years old (43.2%). A total of 6.3% did not show up at the public health centers in order to get the results. Regarding the results of the collecting, 51.6% (774) were within the limits of normality and 47.9% (719) presented some alteration, where 0.1% were compatible with CIN I and II.
