The effective sustainable sale of non-wood forest products requires a favourable legislative framework stipulating quotas and methods of harvesting, regulating rights of access to forest resources and also guaranteeing the rights of the local communities. All this encompasses a guarantee of the equitable sharing of the economic benefits deriving from the use of non-wood forest products. Such is the objective of the access mechanism and benefit-sharing or APA describes in this article.
