The study of the fauna of underground beetles in the small valleyof St Michel at Eze-sur-Mer (A.-M.), induces to consider thesmall forest area covering the bottom of the ravine as a remnantof a primeval forest.Besides, this fauna which has taken refuge in the crevices of asoil shaded by climacic foliages involves some elements of greatbiogeographic interest. Moreover, thanks to the population of the order Glyphobythuswhich belongs to it and includes in particular two new forms, richin information, it is possible to define more accurately the systematicsof this group of Pselaphidae and to explain its evolution. It would be advisable in similar cases to maintain biological reserves, even in small areas on the Mediterranean Coast so as toensure the perenniality of remaining biocoenoses worthy of beingprotected
