Efecto inhibitorio in vitro del aceite esencial de shinus molle l. “molle” sobre streptococcus mutans atcc 25175

Abstract

The in vitro inhibitory effect of essential oil of leaves Shinus molle L. "molle" on Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 was determined to assist in the treatment and prevention of medical conditions, performing 32 repetitions of the test antimicrobial susceptibility by dilution (minimum inhibitory concentration) and diffusion (bacterial susceptibility) of essential oil at concentrations of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%, and control group with procaine benzylpenicillin 1000000 IU, applying and processing the results using analysis of variance and Duncan test. Finding positive inhibitory effect in concentrations on Streptococcus mutans; the mean minimum inhibitory concentration was 25% and significant difference between 25, 50, 75 and 100%; and on bacterial susceptibility were not observed inhibition halos in concentrations. Concluding that the concentrations of essential oil from Shinus molle L. on Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 have inhibitory effect and the minimum inhibitory concentration is 25%.
