Abstract

Estudio de investigación clínica de 60 enfermos consecutivos, con astrocitomas "intermedios" de los hemisferios cerebrales, no claramente anaplasicos ni gliobastomas multiformes, seguidos en su evolución durante 22 años desde 1967 a 1988 y cinco años mas de observación evolutiva hasta 1993. Se analizan parámetros clínicos, radiologicos (angio, tc y rn), histopatologicos y evolutivos, correlacionándolos con la supervivencia y la calidad de vida durante ella. Se comprueba que este tipo de tumores predomina en la juventud y edad media sin predominio de sexos, que no hay relación entre la duración de la clínica preoperatoria y la supervivencia, que la localización del tumor se relaciona con una mejor cirugía y supervivencia, que no se consigue fijar el grado de anaplasia del tumor antes de la primera cirugía, que la cirugía sigue siendo la mejor arma terapéutica y que en los que se obtuvo una segunda histología el grado de malignidad no aumento en dos tercios de los casos a pesar de la progresión fatal de la enfermedad.
