El arte en las revistas ilustradas madrileñas (1835-1840)

Abstract

"El artista", el "semanario pintoresco español", el "observatorio pintoresco", el "museo artístico y literario", "no me olvides", el "siglo XIX" y "el panorama" tuvieron una gran importancia para la expansión de la cultura entre la clase media española, pues sus editores estaban firmemente convencidos de que solo así el país entraría en una dinámica de progreso y evolución. La divulgación del arte entre sus lectores es uno de sus objetivos fundamentales. Esta tarea se concreta en una serie de artículos encaminados a mejorar los conocimientos sobre la materia, fomentando al mismo tiempo el respeto por las bellas artes. Este trabajo analiza los aspectos señalados y muestra la importancia que tales publicaciones tuvieron en el desarrollo de algunas técnicas de reproducción- especialmente el grabado en madera y la litografía- en España. En este sentido, cumplieron además una tarea primordial: dar a conocer y facilitar un primer contacto con las expresiones artísticas más destacadas.
